Acid Dye Acid Red G Acid Red 1
Product Characteristics
Acid Red G is a monoazo, strong acid-soluble anionic dye.
Basic Physicochemical Properties
1. Water Solubility: Solubility at room temperature is approximately 132 g/L; dissolves more rapidly in hot water, exhibiting excellent solubility in aqueous systems.
2. Organic Solvents: Slightly soluble in ethanol and ethylene glycol ether; almost insoluble in acetone, esters, and other organic solvents.
3. Reaction with Concentrated Sulfuric Acid: The solution appears bluish red; upon dilution with water, it turns yellowish red.
4. Reaction with Concentrated Nitric Acid: Turns orange-red, gradually shifting to orange.
5. Reaction with Concentrated Hydrochloric Acid: When concentrated HCl is added to the aqueous solution, a red precipitate forms; this precipitate can be re-dissolved in water.
6. Reaction with Sodium Hydroxide: Upon gradual addition of caustic soda, the solution turns brownish orange.
Water Quality Note: Preferably use soft water for preparation. Calcium and magnesium ions in hard water may cause dye precipitation and color spot formation.
Dyeing Performance and Fastness Parameters (Based on Wool Substrate)
Dyeing Mechanism: Acid Red 1 is a strong acid dye that bonds to wool, silk, and nylon proteins/polyamide fibers via ionic bonding. It has no affinity for cotton or linen cellulose fibers and cannot directly dye pure cotton.
Standard Fastness Ratings:
Lightfastness: 4–5 grades
Washing Fastness: 4 grades
Perspiration Fastness: 4–4.5 grades
Dry Rubbing Fastness: 4–4.5 grades; Wet Rubbing Fastness: 3.5–4 grades
Effect of Metal Ions:
Copper ions: Significant blue shift and darkening of hue
Iron ions: Hue shifts toward blue, color becomes lighter
Recommend using stainless steel for dye baths and pipelines; avoid cast iron or copper equipment.
