Physicochemical Properties
Basic Rhodamine B is easily identifiable due to its striking appearance and strong fluorescence.

Chemical Properties
Turns yellowish-brown with strong green fluorescence upon contact with concentrated sulfuric acid; turns bright red → blue-red → orange upon dilution.
Aqueous solution with NaOH produces a rose-red color; heating produces a hairy precipitate.
Aqueous solution reacts with hydrochloric acid to precipitate fine green crystals.
