1.Solubility

Direct Brown 2 has good water solubility. Its solubility in hot water is higher than that in cold water. The aqueous solution appears deep red-brown.

Direct Brown MM dissolves in ethanol and shows a light red-brown color. It is slightly soluble in acetone and insoluble in other organic solvents.

Suggestion for dissolution: Dissolve in 50–70℃ warm water and stir to facilitate the dyeing process.

2. Acid-base Stability

Direct Brown 2 has moderate alkali resistance: stable at pH 7–10, and prone to precipitation when pH is above 11.

In concentrated sulfuric acid: it forms a purple solution, and after dilution, it produces red-brown precipitate.

In concentrated hydrochloric acid: it shows a dark brown solution; in concentrated caustic soda: it appears orange-brown.

3. Coloring Characteristics

Color tone: Pure red-brown (warm brown), rich in hue, with a slight red tint.

Affinity: Direct Brown 2 has strong affinity for cotton, viscose, hemp, and non-woven fabrics.

Dyeing rate: Medium; good uniformity, average migration, sensitive to salt.

Sunlight Fastness: Grade 3 (Slightly resistant to sunlight, use with caution for outdoor products)

Water Wash Fastness: 2–3 grades

Dry Friction Fastness: Grade 4

Wet Friction Fastness: Grade 3

Color light uniqueness: Pure red light brown, warm tone natural, suitable for retro / earth tone styles

Direct dark brown MM has good water solubility: Cold and hot soluble, simple dyeing process, no clumping

Moderate alkali resistance: Direct Brown MM is suitable for pH ≤ 10 systems, neutral / weakly alkaline products can be used

High cost performance: Direct brown 2 price is affordable, suitable for regular coloring and color blending

Limitations

Sun resistance is average: Sun exposure is only 3 levels, long-term outdoor use is prone to fading

Water washing fastness of direct brown 2 is weak: Wet washing is prone to color loss, high cleanliness products need to control the dosage

Poor removability of Direct Brown MM: During dyeing, temperature and salt need to be controlled to avoid color bleeding

1.Industrial coloring

Direct Brown MM is used for paper (packaging paper, art paper), leather (shoe upper leather), water-based color paste, bamboo and wood fiber coloring

2.Textile printing and dyeing

Direct brown 2 is used for light brown coloring in cotton, viscose, linen and blended fabrics, suitable for blending smoky colors, coffee colors

Silk, nylon coloring, no mordant agent required, simple process

Mixing: Dissolve in 50–70℃ warm water, stir evenly and filter

Dosage: 3–8 parts per million (0.3–0.8g/kg), 5 parts per million is sufficient for full red light brown

pH control: Stable pH 8–10, avoid strong alkaline environment

Compatibility: Direct Brown MM has good compatibility with non-ionic / anionic surfactants
