Environmentally Direct dye Direct Blue 108

Product Name: Direct Fast Blue FFRL/Direct Blue 108

C.I. No.: Direct Blue 108

CAS No.: 1324-58-9

Chemical Formula: C34H19Cl2N4Na3O11S3

Molecular Weight: 895.605

Appearance: Blue powder

    Product Characteristics

Direct Blue 108 has a triphenyl diphenylazine structure and belongs to direct sunfast dyes (direct L type)

    Physical and Chemical Properties

    1.Solubility

Direct Blue 108 has moderate water solubility. It dissolves better in hot water than in cold water. The aqueous solution presents a bright and vivid blue color.

Direct Fast Blue FFRL is slightly soluble in ethanol and insoluble in concentrated hydrochloric acid, caustic soda, and common organic solvents.

Suggested dissolution method: Dissolve in 60–80℃ warm water. Avoid directly using cold water for dyeing.

2.Acid-base Stability (Key: Compatibility with car wash solutions)

Direct Fast Blue FFRL has weak alkali resistance: pH > 9 leads to precipitation and sedimentation. It is only suitable for neutral to slightly alkaline systems (pH 7–9).

In concentrated sulfuric acid: Direct Blue 108 forms a black solution, which turns blue-purple upon dilution.

Direct Blue 108 is sensitive to metal ions: Exposure to iron ions causes the color to become yellowish and darker; exposure to copper ions causes a slight change in color.

    3.Dyeing / Coloring Characteristics

Color Light: Pure and bright blue (bright blue), vivid and transparent, without red light

Affinity: Direct Blue 108 has good affinity for cotton, viscose, linen, and non-woven fabrics.

Dyeing Rate: Medium; Direct Fast Blue FFRL has good uniformity and medium transferability.

Compatibility: Direct Fast Blue FFRL is suitable for combining with direct sunfast yellow to produce green, with stable color matching.

    Color Fastness Indicators (Reference)

Sunlight Fastness: 6–7 grades (Excellent sunfastness, unlikely to fade outdoors)

    Water Wash Fastness: 3–4 grades

    Dry Friction Fastness: 4–5 grades

    Wet Friction Fastness: 3 grades

    Core Advantages and Limitations Advantages

High sun resistance: Sun exposure level 6-7, direct blue 108 significantly outperforms ordinary direct blue, suitable for outdoor products

Bright color of direct blue 108: Pure and bright blue, with strong transparency, more vivid than direct blue 71

Good dyeing uniformity: Even color distribution, no obvious color bleeding Limitations

Direct Fast Blue FFRL has poor alkali resistance: pH > 9, prone to precipitation, not suitable for alkaline car washing solutions (pH ≥ 10)

Direct Fast Blue FFRL has average water solubility: requires hot water for dissolution, easily forms lumps in cold water

Sensitive to iron: requires soft water for preparation, avoid metal containers

    Application Scope

    1.Industrial Coloring

Neutral car washing solution, windshield washer fluid, perfume, laundry detergent: bright and vivid blue color, prohibited in strong alkaline systems

Direct Blue 108 is used for paper (art paper, packaging paper), leather (shoe upper leather), water-based color paste coloring

    2.Textile Printing and Dyeing

Direct Blue 108 is used for cotton, viscose, hemp, silk, and mixed fabrics for bright blue dyeing

Direct Fast Blue FFRL is suitable for dyeing blended fibers (with disperse dyes) at high temperatures (slightly redish color)

    Usage Process

Mixing: Stir in 60–80℃ warm water, filter, add the formula, do not use strong alkaline water

Dosage: 2–4 parts per million (0.2–0.4g/kg), conventional 3 parts per million gives a clear bright blue color

pH Control: strictly control pH 7–9, beyond the range is prone to precipitation

Compatibility: Direct Blue 108 has good compatibility with non-ionic surfactants, avoid mixing with high-concentration strong anionic additives
