Product Features
Direct Fast Bordeaux is a universal direct dye with the following key properties:
● Acid-resistant: Stable shade without precipitation under acidic conditions
● Bright color: Vivid yellowish-red/bright red with high color buildup
● High exhaustion: Good direct affinity for cellulosic fibers
● Cost-effective: Low cost, wide application and simple process
● Strength: Standard 100%, 200%
● Solubility: Moderate; fully soluble in hot water
Application Scope
● Textile Printing & Dyeing: For dyeing and printing cotton, viscose, rayon, linen, silk and wool fabrics, especially ideal for knitwear, towels and yarn
● Paper Dyeing: Coloring of cultural paper, packaging paper and firecracker paper
● Leather Dyeing: Coloring of shoe upper leather, garment leather and synthetic leather
● Others: Wood, pigment paste, coatings, wicker products and non-woven fabrics coloring
Basic Dyeing Properties
● Appearance: Uniform purplish-red powder
● Solubility: Soluble in water (approx. 30 g/L at 80°C); better dissolved in hot water
● Light Fastness: Grade 2–3 (low, not suitable for long-term sunlight exposure)
● Washing Fastness: Grade 3
● Dry Rubbing Fastness: Grade 3
● Wet Rubbing Fastness: Grade 2
● Dyeing pH: Neutral to weakly alkaline (pH 7–8)
● Ion Influence: Copper ions darken the shade; iron ions have little effect; hard water easily causes precipitation
Textile Dyeing Method
1.Dyeing Process Flow
Dye Dissolution → Fabric Impregnation → Heating → Salt Promotion → Insulation Dyeing → Washing → Soaping → Fixation → Drying
2.Detailed Operating Steps
Step 1: Dye Dissolution
Mix evenly with 60–80°C hot soft water, stir until fully dissolved, filter and add to the dye vat.
Step 2: Fabric Pretreatment
Pre-wet fabric with 40–50°C warm water to remove size and impurities.
Step 3: Dyeing
Start dyeing at 40–50°C, heat to 90–95°C at 1°C/min, hold for 40–60 minutes.
Step 4: Salt Promotion
Add 10–30 g/L of sodium sulfate in 2–3 batches to prevent uneven dyeing.
Step 5: Fixation Treatment
Cationic fixing agent is required to greatly improve wet fastness.
Step 6: After-Treatment
Cold wash → Hot wash → Soap at 80°C for 10 minutes → Thorough wash → Dry.
Dyeing Notes
● Add salt in batches: Poor migration; do NOT add large amount at one time
● Slow heating: Rapid heating easily causes streaks and uneven dyeing
● Water quality: Use soft water with chelating agent to avoid darkening from copper/iron ions
● pH control: Maintain neutral to weak alkaline; excess alkali dulls shade; excess acid causes precipitation
● Mandatory fixation: Medium wet fastness; no fixation leads to fading and staining
Paper Dyeing Method
1.Dissolution: Fully dissolve the dye in about 80°C hot water
2.Addition: Add during beating or mixing stage and stir evenly
3.Dosage: Adjust by shade depth; 0.1%–0.5% for light shades, 1%–3% for dark shades
4.Features: Fast uptake, bright color, suitable for ordinary cultural and packaging paper
Leather Dyeing Method
1.Dissolution: Dissolve in hot water and filter to remove impurities
2.Bath pH: Neutral to weakly alkaline
3.Process: Can be used alone or in combination with direct yellow, orange, brown
4.Features: High coloring power, suitable for base and top coating coloring
Common Problems & Solutions
1.Uneven dyeing, streaks
Cause: Rapid heating, one-time salt addition, poor migration
Solution: Slow heating, add sodium sulfate in batches, extend leveling time
2.Dark and dull shade
Cause: Copper/iron ions, hard water, excess alkali
Solution: Use soft water + chelating agent, control pH 7–8, use stainless equipment
3.Poor washing/wet rubbing fastness
Cause: Unwashed floating color, no fixation
Solution: Thorough soaping and cationic fixation
4.Low exhaustion rate
Cause: Insufficient salt, low temperature, short holding time
Solution: Adequate sodium sulfate, hold at 90–95°C for sufficient time
Safety & Storage
● Storage: Cool, dry, sealed, light-proof and moisture-proof
● Packing: 25kg woven bag or fiber drum
● Shelf Life: 2 years
● Safety: Industrial product; avoid dust inhalation; wear mask, gloves and goggles; not for food or food-contact materials
Usage Recommendations
1.Always make lab trials before bulk production to confirm shade, strength and fastness
2.Use fixing agent for high fastness requirements
3.Record temperature, time, salt dosage and pH in detail for stable repetition
4.Do not use in same bath with cationic dyes to avoid precipitation
