    Product Description

Direct Yellow 12 (also known as Chrysophenine G) is a stilbene-based direct dye. Bright golden-reddish-yellow shade can be obtained by single-bath dyeing. Its aqueous solution will gel at low temperature. It features good levelness & migration, suitable for printing and discharge printing, widely used for colouring cellulosic materials.

    Physical & Chemical Properties

Appearance: Deep-yellow to orange-yellow homogeneous powder. Solubility: Good water-solubility, golden-reddish-yellow shade in water. Aqueous solution tends to gel below 15℃. Slightly soluble in ethanol; practically insoluble in other organic solvents. Acid-alkali reaction: Red-violet colour in concentrated sulfuric acid, precipitate of purple to reddish-blue after dilution; claret-red precipitate with concentrated hydrochloric acid; golden-orange precipitate with concentrated sodium hydroxide. Metal influence: Copper and iron ions bring slight shade change; minimize metal contact during dyeing.

    Dyeing Properties

Good affinity for cellulosic fibres, optimum dyeing temperature 70-80℃. Excellent levelness and migration power, good covering power for immature cotton and uneven viscose. Applicable for direct printing and discharge ground colour. Suitable for exhaust, jig and pad dyeing.

    Main Application Fields

Textile industry: Mainly for cotton, linen, viscose, jute and other cellulosic fibres; widely used for knit fabric, flannelette and blanket dyeing & printing; also for silk, vinylon, polyamide and blended fabrics. Other industries: Widely applied for paper, leather dyeing, as well as ink and colour paste manufacturing. Colour mixing application: Can be used alone for golden-reddish-yellow shade, or blended with other direct dyes to produce composite colours such as green, brown and khaki.

    Usage Method

Direct Yellow 12 is an economical golden-yellow direct dye supporting printing & discharge printing, mainly for cellulosic fibres like cotton and viscose.

    1. Key Dyeing Process Points

Dye characteristics: High dye uptake, good levelness & migration. Neutral-weak alkaline dye bath, maximum affinity at 70-80℃. Avoid low preparing temperature, as dye solution is easy to gel under cold condition. Operation points: Raise temperature gradually, add sodium chloride or sodium sulphate in portions for exhaustion. Cool naturally to 40-50℃ after dyeing for better exhaustion. Solution temperature shall not be lower than 15℃ to prevent gelling & precipitation. Fastness improvement: Post-treatment with fixing agent is recommended to improve soaping fastness and wet rubbing fastness.

    2. Application Scope

Textiles: Exhaust, jig & pad dyeing for cotton knit goods, flannelette, viscose fabric; fit for direct printing and discharge ground colour. Other applications: Dyeing of paper and leather, preparation of ink and colour paste.
