Solubility:

Direct Brown 1 is soluble in cold water / warm water (25°C solubility ≥ 15g/L), and the solution is clear orange-brown.

Direct Yellow Brown D3G is soluble in ethanol, slightly soluble in acetone, and insoluble in other organic solvents.

Acid-base reaction:

Concentrated sulfuric acid: light purple to purple-black, after dilution, brown precipitate

10% caustic soda: yellow-brown (color stability)

Concentrated hydrochloric acid: brownish-brown precipitate

Stability:

Direct Yellow Brown D3G has moderate alkali resistance: pH 7–10 stable, strong alkali easily precipitates

Direct Brown 1 is sensitive to copper / iron ions: turns dark yellow when exposed to copper, light yellow when exposed to iron, requires soft water and chelating agents

Direct Brown 1 Sunlight Fastness: 2 grades (poor), only suitable for indoor use, prone to fading outdoors

Direct Yellow Brown 3G Water Wash Fastness: 2–3 grades (average, requires fixation)

Dry Friction: 4 grades; Wet Friction: 3 grades

Sweat Fastness: 2–3 grades

Dyeing Affinity: Direct Yellow Brown D3G has strong affinity for cotton, viscose, linen, and non-woven fabrics, with the highest dyeing rate at 80–100°C

Even Dyeing / Transfer Dyeing: Direct Brown 1 has good even dyeing performance, medium transfer dyeing, suitable for light yellow-brown colors

Compatibility: Direct Brown 1 is stable when paired with direct yellow / red colors, can be dyed into khaki, light brown, and coffee

Industrial Coloring:

Direct Yellow Brown D3G is used for paper, leather, water-based color paste, and bamboo and wood fibers

Advantages:

Direct Yellow Brown D3G is very convenient for dissolution: soluble in cold water quickly, simple mixing, and does not easily form lumps

Direct Brown 1 has a bright color: light yellow-brown, clean and transparent, suitable for light color schemes

Direct Brown 1 has a high cost-performance ratio: low price, good even dyeing, suitable for large-scale medium-light colors

Direct Yellow Brown D3G has good bleaching performance: can be bleached, suitable for printing processes

Disadvantages:

Poor Sun Resistance (2 grades): Outdoor use is strictly prohibited, not as good as Direct Brown 95 (5–6 grades)

Weak Water Wash Fastness of Direct Brown 1: must fix to improve wet fastness

Direct Brown 1 is sensitive to metal ions: prone to color change, requires controlling water quality
